YouTube Offers Buyouts to Employees Amid Major AI Shift

YouTube is making a major move amid the growing influence of artificial intelligence (AI) — offering voluntary buyouts to employees as part of a broader organizational revamp.

In a letter to staff on Wednesday, October 29, YouTube CEO Neal Mohan described the current era as one of “disruption and opportunity,” citing AI’s impact as a driving force behind changes to the platform’s structure and strategy.

The company will now reorganize into three main product divisions, each led by senior executives reporting directly to the CEO.   • Johanna Voolich will head Viewer Products, managing mobile and living room apps, YouTube Kids, Trust & Safety, and search infrastructure.
