Pakistani Astronaut to Join China Space Station as Payload Specialist

The announcement was made by the China Manned Space Agency (CMSA) during a press conference in Beijing. Where officials confirmed that two Pakistani astronauts will train alongside their Chinese counterparts. This milestone follows an agreement signed in February. Between the China Manned Space Engineering Office (CMSEO) and the Pakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO). The deal paves the way for joint astronaut training and collaborative space research under China’s expanding international space program.

According to the agreement, the Chinese government will oversee the selection, training, and flight preparation of Pakistani astronauts. The training phase will span approximately one year. After which the astronauts will be eligible for short-term spaceflight missions in collaboration with Chinese crews.
