Zong Takes the Lead in PTA’s Latest Mobile Network Rankings

Overview

Zong has claimed the number one position in the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority’s (PTA) latest independent Quality of Service (QoS) survey for Q3 2025, outperforming all other mobile networks in Pakistan.

According to the report, Zong ranked first in major performance categories including 4G coverage, voice quality, SMS reliability, and broadband throughput metrics.

Jazz secured second place overall, followed by Ufone and Telenor in third and fourth positions, respectively.

The survey evaluated parameters like network accessibility, call quality, internet speed, and latency to determine each operator’s compliance with PTA’s QoS standards.

4G Coverage and Voice Quality

Zong led mobile coverage in 15 cities for 4G and 11 cities for 3G, outperforming competitors across most regions.

  • Zong: 15 compliant 4G city results
  • Jazz: 13 compliant 4G city results
  • Ufone: 12 compliant cities
  • Telenor: 6 compliant cities

For voice quality, Zong topped the composite score combining Network Accessibility, Call Setup Success Rate (CSSR), Call Connection Time (CCT), Call Completion Ratio (CCR), and Mean Opinion Score (MOS) — achieving 86 compliant KPIs and only 9 non-compliant.

Latency and Web Performance

Zong’s latency performance was slightly behind Jazz and Telenor in auto-mode results, averaging ~77 ms compared to Jazz’s ~68 ms and Telenor’s ~67 ms. However, in third-party app latency tests, Zong maintained compliance across almost all surveyed cities — tying with Ufone for second place.

For web browsing, Zong was compliant in 13 cities but lagged slightly behind Jazz and Ufone in page loading time, despite maintaining superior throughput in most regions.

Final Take

While the PTA noted that this comparative survey only reflects results from the 17 tested cities, Zong’s overall performance highlights its consistent leadership in Pakistan’s telecom market.

The findings reaffirm Zong’s position as the top network for mobile users, particularly in 4G coverage, voice quality, and data reliability.
