Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat has announced new winter school timings for all educational institutions across the province. He shared the update on his official Facebook page. Confirming that schools will now open at 8:45 a.m. and close at 1:30 p.m. during the cold season.
The minister said the decision was made to ensure the safety and comfort of students as temperatures continue to drop across Punjab. He added that the change aims to protect children from harsh early-morning cold while keeping the learning schedule consistent.
Although the official notification from the Punjab School Education Department has not yet been released, it is expected soon. Once issued, the revised timings will take effect immediately. The Education Department is likely to circulate the updated schedule to both public and private schools across the province.
Rana Sikandar Hayat has recently been active on social media, keeping parents, teachers, and school administrators informed about educational reforms and policy changes. His direct communication approach has helped improve transparency and responsiveness in the education sector.
In previous years, Punjab schools adopted similar timing adjustments to help children avoid exposure to cold weather during early hours. The new schedule follows that pattern, showing continued efforts to prioritize student well-being.
Parents have welcomed the announcement, calling it a sensible decision for young students, especially in areas where winter mornings are particularly chilly. Teachers’ associations have also expressed support, saying that the change allows for better classroom engagement and attendance during the winter months.
The provincial government continues to focus on improving education accessibility and comfort for students. These seasonal adjustments reflect a flexible and student-centered approach, ensuring that learning remains effective and safe, regardless of weather conditions.
