Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR) Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry will address a major press conference today, Friday, at 2:30pm in Peshawar. The briefing is expected to focus on national security developments, counterterrorism operations, and the sacrifices made by Pakistan’s armed forces in recent days.
According to the military’s media wing, the press conference will take place at the Corps Headquarters in Peshawar. Where the army spokesperson is likely to share updates on the ongoing security situation across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and other regions.
The conference comes after a series of operations that resulted in the martyrdom of twelve soldiers, including three officers, during engagements with militants. These incidents have once again highlighted the growing threat of cross-border terrorism and the challenges faced by Pakistan’s security forces in maintaining peace and stability.
Among the martyrs was Major Sibtain Haider, who was leading his troops during an intelligence-based operation in Dera Ismail Khan. The 30-year-old officer from Quetta fought courageously and embraced martyrdom while ensuring the success of the mission. Security forces neutralized seven Indian proxy terrorists in the same operation, the ISPR said.
In another fierce encounter in Orakzai district, Lieutenant Colonel Junaid Tariq, Major Tayyab Rahat, and nine soldiers embraced martyrdom while fighting against Indian-backed terrorists. The military confirmed that 19 militants were killed during the operation after an intense exchange of fire. Later, the ISPR announced that 30 Indian-sponsored terrorists linked to the Orakzai attack were eliminated in targeted follow-up operations.
The army said these counterterrorism missions were part of ongoing efforts to dismantle networks responsible for attacks on Pakistan’s soil. Security forces have been conducting a series of retribution operations to hunt down those involved in the recent incidents.
The upcoming press conference is expected to shed light on the broader security outlook, operational progress. Pakistan’s strategy to counter hybrid warfare and foreign-sponsored militancy. The DG ISPR is also likely to discuss regional stability. The evolving situation along the western border, and the armed forces’ resolve to safeguard national sovereignty.
Pakistan’s military has reaffirmed its determination to root out terrorism in all forms. The sacrifices of the armed forces, according to analysts, continue to reflect the country’s resilience and commitment to lasting peace.
