ChatGPT Atlas | OpenAI Launches AI Browser

OpenAI has launched ChatGPT Atlas, a new web-browser that leverages AI technology to incorporate ChatGPT into regular browsing use. The new experience will be available worldwide on the macOS platform, across all user levels (Free, Plus, Pro, and Go), and Windows, iOS, and Android apps are to follow soon.

ChatGPT Atlas brings conversational intelligence to users’ browsing experience by embedding ChatGPT into the new-tab flow. With Atlas, users will be able to ask questions, search, and write inline without needing to switch between tabs. OpenAI states that Atlas will use contextual information from the user’s web history, the open web pages, and the websites the user is logged into to create personalized responses and intelligent suggestions.

Atlas includes recalling what was useful and timely from past sessions. It will be able to recommend pages, automate repetitive actions, or simply pick up from where the user left off. The user will simply use natural language to ask Atlas to do things like reopen all tabs from last Tuesday or bring all their work into one window, and the browsing experience takes care of it.

OpenAI also has a preview coming soon for its new “agent mode,” during which ChatGPT can take direct actions in the user’s browser. Agent mode
