Apple Launches Fully Redesigned App Store Web Interface for Non-Apple Devices
CUPERTINO | November 2025 —
Apple has unveiled a completely redesigned web version of its App Store, turning what was once a simple landing page system into a fully functional storefront for users browsing on non-Apple devices.
Previously, users who clicked on App Store links via search engines could only view limited app information without the ability to browse categories, explore apps, or search directly from the web. The new interface changes that, providing a modern, searchable, and category-based design similar to Apple’s native App Store experience.
The redesigned App Store web version allows users to browse by category and platform, including separate sections for iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple Watch apps. However, direct app downloads from the web are still not supported — users are redirected to the App Store on their Apple device to install applications.
Apple has emphasized that the new design is part of its ongoing effort to improve app discoverability and make its digital storefront more accessible to users and developers worldwide. The updated interface also benefits researchers and app marketers, who can now explore Apple’s app ecosystem without needing an Apple ID or hardware device.
Industry analysts note that the move aligns with Apple’s gradual shift toward greater openness and cross-platform reach, particularly as regulatory pressure grows in regions such as the European Union to enhance competition and interoperability between app marketplaces.
While Apple hasn’t confirmed whether web-based downloads or purchases will eventually be introduced, experts believe this overhaul lays the groundwork for a more inclusive and accessible app distribution ecosystem.
