NADRA Starts Online Nikah Registration Service Across Pakistan
The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has officially launched an online Nikah registration and verification service across Pakistan, marking a major milestone in the government’s push toward digital governance. The service allows citizens to register their marriage contracts online through NADRA’s official e-services portal, eliminating the need for physical visits to government offices.
According to officials, this initiative aims to make the Nikah registration process faster, safer, and more transparent. Users can now upload their Nikah Nama, CNICs of the bride and groom, witnesses’ details, and marriage registrar credentials directly through the NADRA e-portal or mobile app. Once the verification process is complete, couples receive an official digital record of their Nikah, which can be downloaded or accessed anytime through NADRA’s system.
The new system ensures accuracy in national marriage records and helps prevent fake or duplicate registrations, a problem that has existed for years due to manual documentation and limited verification. It also offers convenience to overseas Pakistanis, who often face difficulties obtaining verified marriage documents while abroad.
Officials explained that this project is part of the government’s broader “Digital Pakistan Vision”, which seeks to digitalize core civil services such as birth, marriage, divorce, and death registrations. NADRA has also announced plans to expand the system in the near future to include online divorce registration, birth-certificate automation, and integrated family record management.
Public response to the initiative has been overwhelmingly positive, with many praising NADRA for adopting technology to simplify everyday documentation. Social-media users have lauded the move as a major step toward paperless governance and citizen-friendly digital transformation in Pakistan.
